It is possible to connect the RS232 serial cable with a current Windows PC using a compatible RS232-USB adapter. I have a 'Belkin PDA Adaptor', which works well and has 64-bit drivers for Windows. I cannot guarantee all USB-RS232 chipsets will work. I have read that PsiWin prefers COM ports 1-4, and also needs to use the RTS / CTS signals, so any adapter must provide these.

Remove JPL section, as it doesn't answer the question.

I have attempted to substitute the explorer component of PsiWin with Java Psion Link, and though it was successful once I cannot get it to reliably connect over the above cable. It relies on the older javax.comm to access the serial port, which is unsupported under Windows. It may be possible to recompile it to use a more modern alternative. However, this would be a good solution for Linux users.
