About

YGREC8 is an experimental RISC-inspired minimalist 8-bits processor architecture/ISA that can be implemented in all kinds of technologies, from relays to TTL, from discrete transistors to ASIC, and FPGA of course. One 16-bits instruction is executed every cycle, operating on 8-bits values. There are 8 registers, including PC and two register-mapped memory ports. It started almost like a joke so low gate count is important but now it attempts to be useful for education or as alternative to PIC or AVR microcontrollers. Programming convenience is another aspect that is being explored :-) See all the details at https://hackaday.io/project/27280-ygrec8
